Design Process
Phase 1 - Feasibility and Budget Estimate
Most projects begin with a request for a feasibility and budget estimate for the HVAC system. The plans are sent to ThermLink and we begin with a Manual J heat loss calculation for the building to understand the HVAC design parameters. We also gather information on the desired heat distribution system (forced-air, hydronic, combination, etc) and the desired heat source (geothermal, boiler, conventional, solar, etc). With these parameters we will create an initial design and a material estimate for budgeting purposes which the HVAC contractor incorporates into their initial bid.
Phase 2 - Final Design and Product Quote
If the initial design is revised ThermLink will also revise the design and product estimate so the HVAC contractor can update his bid. Now the final HVAC design and bid is approved and the project is awarded to the HVAC contractor.
Phase 3 - Develop Schedule and Design Documents
ThermLink will now work with the HVAC contractor to finalize any remaining material and equipment needs and develop the schedule. At this point ThermLink will develop the design documents needed for installation.
Phase 4 - Supply Material and Equipment
As the project progresses ThermLink will order the material and equipment according to the schedule and provide technical support throughout the installation.
Phase 5 - Assist with Commissioning
ThermLink will assist with commissioning the system if the HVAC contractor chooses. The fee for this option is the travel expense plus an hourly rate which will be clearly shown on the estimate.
